3 Reasons for Mitzva Eating

Eating the Seuda of the day before Yom Kippur is considered as if one fasted for two days - Rosh Hashana 9a.
Why is it so significant ?
Rabeinu Yonah S.T. 4:8 explains

- To show our joy at the arrival of the Day of Atonement.
- to show our joy for the Mitzva of Yom Kipur.
- to eat well so that we will have the energy
*to increase our prayers on y. K. &
* to focus on all of the steps of Teshuva.
Now may be a good time for a gem of Torah study.
