Counting for life

Why do we spend 7 weeks counting to a special day ?
The Mitzva of Sefiras haomer , some say is Mitzva 306 of 613 , while others say it is 307. Either way the Chinuch says teaches us the primary purpose of life - to study Hashems Torah which He gave us on Shevuos.

Firstborn Donkeys

Why are donkeys the only unkosher animals that have a firstborn Mitzva status ? Why not horses & camels also ?

The Talmud explains because the Jews needed to haul tons of gold & silver as they left Egypt & there were no U - hauls so they used rent a Donkey !
