Why Miracles ?

Hashem created a perfect world for which we need to thank Him always , Baruch Hashem. But why then do we sometimes need His miracles to help us ?
The Chovos Halvovos explains 3 reasons why most people are not so happy in this world :
1 - they are always looking for more , thus they miss the great benefits that surround them.
2- they get used to so much they fail to appreciate it.
3 - there are some things which seem negative & it takes wisdom to realize the benefits.

This is why Hashem invented miracles to wake us up !!

How does this apply to Chanuka ?

If someone has to choose between lighting a chanuka candle or lighting the a candle for Shabos which comes first ?
Rambam teaches that the Shabos comes first.
Why?

Why do we thank Hashem for the milchomos / battles ?

Rav Y. I. Sher explains that by providing us with challenges that we had to battle to overcome we had the opportunity to achieve greatness. Fighting for a cause strengthens ones resolve to hate the enemies of Hashem & all forms of wickedness.
