W. 63- My needs

We thought of a new invention you may be interested in developing & marketing.
Consider a regular chair that has an added feature you can press a knob & it turns into a rocking chair.
Our Creator has built in such a feature in every human being - you can sit or stand in one posture or you can choose to sway & rock or shuckle at any speed you desire.
Your body can become its own rocking chair at your convenience.
We do this at times while we pray without even realizing it.

Furthermore , we have a built in shtender feature when we want to hold a siddur or Sefer - our arms lock at the elbows & the sefer is just right for reading. It is also adjustable with flexibility at the wrists. Baruch Hashem.

Wonders 59- Blessing for Clothing

Why is the blessing for clothing so significant that it follows that of the eyes according to ashkenaz & that of standing upright , according to Sefarad ?
Why do we wear clothing in general , are we ashamed of the magnificent unique body Hashem has provided us with ?
The answer is that clothing are much more meaningful than the appearance they portray. They serve to remind us of who we are. We are not a body that contains a soul , rather , we are a SOUL that has a body as its container.
Your car is not you
Your clothing is not you
Your home is not you.

We need to thank Hashem for our clothing , home , a car etc , but not to lose sight of thanking Him for the ikor , our Soul.

W. 58 - Another Level

When we consider the ability to open our eyes , there are limitations & challenges at times such as blind spots or color blind.
There is another level that has been linked to the plague of Darkness in the Torah , Shmos 10:23. It says that it was so dark that the Egyptians could not see each other.

W. 57 - Open Eyes

When a person knows who he is he is ready to open his eyes to see with inner vision. Pokeiach , means not only to open , but to be clever with an insightful mind & heart.
The Talmud , Nedarim 64b teaches that a sightless person is considered as dead. Why is that ?
Also, why do we group together a poor person , blind , leper & childless , Hashem should save us from all 4 ?
This has been explained that all 4 are limitations which restrict a persons free will causing him to lose out on Mitzva opportunities.
Thus in the morning we take stock of our good fortune to thank Hashem for the great gifts that He bestows on us daily.

Wonders 56 - Double Thanks

A Man says - thanks for who I am.
A Woman says - thanks for making me as He desired.
Obviously , they both need to thank Hashem for making them who they are & for the gift of a spouse.
If we were all the same we would not get the entire message. Baruch Hashem now we realize that a man has more Mitzvos including the one to study more Torah. For that he must be grateful & thank Hashem daily.
She , on the other hand , has more responsibilities to inspire her husband & her children to become great in Hashems service.

For example , Rebbe Akivas wife gets all the credit for motivating him to dedicate himself to becoming so great. And he gets for following through with his persistance to develop his greatness for 24 years in Yeshiva.

Wonders 55- Secret of the Nose

Why is a nose called Chotem which is also the same root word for Chet - which refers to a sin ?
The word chut for thread is also of the same root.
The Gemara in Sukah explains that a sin begins as a small thread to tempt a person.
The essence of the word chet means to miss the goal , thus a nose is the center & the most prominent feature of the face. To identify a person , the daf Yevomos 120 a. Explains the nose must be included.
A sin is missing our purpose in life , thus it is like cutting off ones nose. Teshuva is the process of restoring & completing ones perfection.

Our Sages have taught us the system of saying 100 blessings daily in order to train us to learn to appreciate the Wonders of Hashem that envelope us on all sides.
Let us study the 15 morning blessings to dive into this program.

W. 51 - The Thumb Lesson

Why does the thumb seem to be shorter than the other fingers yet it is thicker & to the side ?
When you lift something with one hand we see that the thumbs place is to oppose the other 4 fingers thus it is thicker. It also becomes longer to match the size of all of the other fingers.
One of the lessons this arrangement serves to highlight is how Hashem provides people with compensation. When they may be handlcapped in one area , Hashem provides other areas of qualities to compensate. Baruch Hashem

Wonders 50 - Open & Close

Why did Hashem design our hands with an open & close feature , but it is not that way with our feet ?
The fingers were designed to serve open like a fork or closed as a spoon , or cupped as a cup or bowl. The feet however are for walking or standing thus they don't need such a feature.

W. 49 - At your Fingertips

Why did Hashem design each persons fingerprints with a unique personal pattern ?
- is it so that we should be able to identify ourselves to know who we are ?¥
- maybe so that we can check the records of criminals to determine whether or not we are on the wanted lists ?€

The basic reason for the texture of fingerprints is to enable a person to have a better grip & traction.
The profound reason is that our Sages teach
Fortunate is the person who comes to the World to Come with his Torah Study in his hands.
Pesochim 50a. Rabeinu Chananel explains the word - in his hands, that every Torah lesson has to be developed & translated into Action.
Thus Hashem gave us each unique fingers to symbolize our mission to develop our unique potential for our way of doing things with our Neshamas hallmark on it.

W. 48 - Why 10 ?

Why did Hashem provide us with 10 fingers ?
There is a musician who instead of advertising that he is a one man band, he claims that he is a ten finger band !
One primary purpose is to remind us of our objectives in life to fulfill the 10 commandments. We know that they are divided onto two tablets , five on each , thus they correspond to our two hands of 5 fingers on each.
What a great gift. Baruch Hashem.

Wonders 47 -Fantastic Fingers

What is the main reason Hashem gave us such incredible fingers ?
There are usages that we may think are far fetched but our Sages teach that they may be primary functions intended by Hashem , the Creator & Designer.

The Torah , 21:14 , instructs every soldier to have a shovel among his tools & weapons ( in order to dig & cover up body wastes ).
The Talmud, Kesubos 5b , explains another level - Hashem has provided people with two toolboxes filled with a variety of equipment of different sizes & shapes. You can look at your two hands right now to see how each finger is uniquely shaped for many functions.

Thus the Talmud reveals an amazing secret - one of the primary purposes of our fingers are to serve as earplugs in order to block out inappropriate words.
We have two related levels of interpetation
1 - keep your area clean
2- keep your mind also clean.

Wonders 46 -Fabulous Feet

What is the main purpose Hashem gave us the gift of our legs ? Are they mainly for standing , walking or sitting ?

The Talmud , Kesubos 111b , cautions us not to sit too much because it can cause certain ailments , not to stand too much because it may harm the heart & not to walk too much to avoid harming ones eyesight. Thus we should to it to maintain a balance of the 3 activities.
This teaching sheds light on Hashems plans for how we should utilize our legs for standing & walking & not to forget the bend & fold feature for how to park our unique vehicle without having to search for a parking lot.

The Invisible Tree -Wonders 45

What is the most important part of a tree ?
Its not what we can see - rather it is the roots which keep the tree alive & growing continuously. The roots are the most significant part of a tree as we are taught in Avos 3:22 , as a comparison to a persons actions.

There is a profound lesson here. A person may be missing out on the most important part of his mission in this world , without realizing it.
There are a great amount of Mitzvos of the mind / heart which we to perform primarily in an invisible manner , as the Chovos Halvovos teaches.
We should ask ourselves- how often do I think , I love Hashem ? What about , do I love other people ?

W. 44 - Sound of Tears

For Hashem has heard the voice of my tears , Tehilim 6.
Infants cry for food , for comfort , for attention , for relief. As we mature , we cry for our needs that we yearn for , for a loss Hashem should protect us from , or out of joy Baruch Hashem.
The common denominator is the word bechi , for weeping , which is of the root word becho which means in you. Tears express the innermost , essential feelings of a person. That is why Hashem listens , because it is the authentic you.

W. 43 - A Tearful Message

We see from car windshield wipers that have a cleanser resovoir that shoot out the fluid to interact with the wipers , how beneficial it is. But there are times when the regular washing may be insufficent & it may be sent to a carwash for a major cleansing.
Tears serve as a major overhaul when there is an emotional situation which requires deeper thoughts of repentance.
But why does Hashem create so many protective devices for the eyes - the eyelids have eyelashes , above which there are also eyebrows ?
Obviously , Hashem is urging us to appreciate how precious are our eyes & how we should protect them from inappropriate vision.
The entire eye is surrounded by shock absorbers which shield the eyes from blows.

W. 42 - 2 Incredible Cameras

Click , click ?
No. You don't even hear a click as your eyes keep on taking instant color pictures.
How often do the lenses have to be cleaned ?
Baruch Hashem , thank Him for designing an automatic cleansing system which dissolves all dust & spreads an antiseptic fluid to keep the eyes spotless & germless. It happens about every 5 seconds & we don't even notice it.
Do we need to apply any wipers ?
Believe it or not , Hashem has created an eyelid cover with an automatic blinking / cleansing system. The eyeshield wipers disappear on top when not in use , but they can be lowered intentionally at any time to shield the eyes from improper harmful sights or they close for a blink by Hashems built in programming.
But we have a homework question for you - what is the signifigance of tears & why are they linked to the eyes ?

Smoke Alarm- Wonders 40

Have you thanked Hashem lately for the unique smoke alarm system He has attached to your body ?
First of all why did He decide to position it right in the center of your face ?
One reason , Rav Miller explained is so that it can hold your glasses in place in case you may use them.
But it serves much more than that. It is a most amazing machine that can breathe & keep us alive as a divers snorkel. It can process & identify millions of molecules which constantly fly through the air.
Besides the early warning smells for protection , it provides pleasure , such as to inform you in advance of the delicious supper your wife has waiting for you.
It stands gaurd as a sentry over your mouth , as a security gaurd with a sniffing dog to detect spoilage of that which may cause harm.
Your small nose has about 10 million super advanced computers of receptor cells that run all types of programs. That is nothing to sneeze at. And if you do hear someone sneeze , once in a while , thank Hashem for the wonderful relief cleansing system of a sneeze. Baruch Hashem.
